Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition has settled on Mwenda Thuranira for Isiolo North MP seat as it seeks to ensure it bags all the elective seats in Isiolo County.
Agriculture CS Peter Munya said the Raila Odinga led coalition had after wide consultations resolved to support the PNU candidate who is among the frontrunners in the race to unseat incumbent Hassan Odha seeking reelection on Independent ticket.
“Azimio has also decided that Mr Thuranira work together with Mr Guyo so that we deliver the seats and offer Mr Odinga a team to work with,” said Mr Munya while rallying the Amerus to support the candidates.
Mr Thuranira, at the Ameru community meeting, said if elected he will safeguard the interests of all communities in Isiolo and work tirelessly for improved livelihoods.
“We have for a long time suffered in the hands of poor leadership and time has come for us to consider leaders with community interests at heart,” said Mr Thuranira, while citing fair allocation of bursaries and scholarships among the issues he will prioritize on.
“A vote for Mambo Fresh will enable us eradicate poverty and illiteracy and empower residents regardless of their religion or tribe,” said Mr Thuranira.
At the meeting, Isiolo PNU gubernatorial candidate Kenneth Maorwe dropped his bid in favour of Jubilee opponent Abdi Ibrahim Hassan Guyo, who a recent Tifa poll shows is trailing former Governor Godana Doyo at 34 percent rating against Doyo’s 45 percent.
Mr Guyo pledged to work with Mr Thuranira and exuded confidence his team of candidates vying on parties under Azimio will trounce on their opponents.
Isiolo North Jubilee MP candidate Joseph Samal was conspicuously missing at the event that was also attended by Senator Fatuma Dullo, Woman Rep aspirant Mumina Bonaya and Isiolo Deputy Governor Abdi Issa vying for Senate seat on PNU ticket.
