Makueni Deputy Governor Adelina Mwau has defected to Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance Party.

Ms Mwau, who has been Governor Kivutha Kibwana’s deputy since 2013, will be contesting for Makueni Woman Rep seat in the August elections.

She was received to the party on Tuesday by Dr Ruto who said “The Hustler Nation is growing bigger and bigger. Karibu Mama”.

Governor Kibwana, who last week shelved his Presidential ambitions to support ODM Leader Raila Odinga, rubbished off his deputy’s move saying Makueni residents were solidly behind Mr Odinga.

The county boss claimed that Ms Mwau had pledged to take a huge delegation of local politicians who allegedly declined her overtures.

“I wish to make it clear that Makueni people have expressed their intention to support Azimio la Umoja and will not be hoodwinked by people seeking self-aggrandizement,” Prof Kibwana said.

“While I respect Adelina for the good working relations for the last nine years, her latest move puts our working together on the edge”.

The Governor said the voice of Makueni people had always been their guide in decision making and maintained that he will not abandon the principle for political expediency.

“Adelina will walk alone,” he said.
