Detectives recovered Sh6.19 million (57, 000 USD) in the chambers of Judges Aggrey Muchelule and Juma Chitembwe during last week’s raid, documents submitted in court show.
Of the amount, Sh5.4 million (50, 000 USD) was seized from a woman who was in the chambers during the search and Sh760, 340 (7000 USD) from Justice Muchelule.
It is claimed that Judge Muchelule facilitated the meeting between his colleague and other persons who were reportedly giving out the money.
The Director of Criminal Investigations, in court papers, said the bribe was to be delivered to the residence of an unnamed judge.
The High Court last week barred the police from arresting, prosecuting, or investigating the two judges.
