A 23-year-old man who was arrested along Isiolo-Moyale road on Tuesday evening transporting a consignment of bhang has been released on bond after denying drug trafficking charges before a court in Isiolo.
Qanchora Bidhu Galgalo was arraigned before Isiolo Chief Magistrate Samuel Mungai and charged with trafficking 18.105 kilogrammes of bhang in Succeed vehicle Reg No KCK 579V worth Sh543, 150.
Police sources had earlier estimated the consignment to cost Sh855, 000.
The suspect was arrested by a multi-agency security team manning a roadblock at Wamba junction transporting the narcotics in the vehicle where five students were on board headed to Nairobi from Marsabit side.
Mr Galgalo was released on a bond of Sh300, 000 with two sureties of a similar amount.
