A Tharaka Nithi County politician Mr Kinyua Njoka from Chuka Igambang’ombe constituency has died.
Mr Njoka who until his demise worked at Chuka University reportedly collapsed and died at his home in Mugwe ward on the night of March 19, 2021.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that Mr Njoka who worked as Tharaka Nithi County Executive Committee Member in charge of Education, Sports, Gender and Culture during former Governor Samuel Ragwa regime was suffering from Covid-19 disease.
Before joining the county government, Mr Njoka had served as county director of education the position he had been promoted to after serving as an outstanding secondary school principal in various prominent schools including Chogoria Boys’ High School.
He had been admitted at PCEA Chogoria Mission Hospital for a period of time and later discharged after improving only to die at home.
Cases of Covid-19 disease infection are on the rise in Tharaka Nithi County in the last month.
On March 13, 42 people tested positive being the largest number of patients that have ever been registered in a single test since the outbreak.
Out of the 42, 15 were Chuka University Students, eight Chuka law court staff and 10 health workers.
