Some 20 needy but bright learners from Isiolo North have benefited with metallic boxes and shopping essentials from a local philanthropist to help them join secondary schools.
Out of the group, 15 pupils, both boys and girls, received metallic boxes and personal items worth Sh5, 000 each while the remaining received shopping vouchers worth the same amount.
Mr Ekai Ajiot whose daughter benefited from the shopping donation said the items will take the learner for some time.
“I have not received any support like this before nor have I seen it happen in Isiolo,” said Mr Ajiot.
Elly Mugambi’s father Paul Mureithi lauded the local politician for extending a helping hand to the needy saying it was the first of its kind in the area.
“We appreciate having someone who is really concerned about the welfare of the less fortunate in the region,” he said during the distribution exercise in Isiolo town.
Ms Ruth Kanini whose twin daughters benefited said the help came in handy as had no enough money to buy them all the necessities owing to the adverse economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“It was a big challenge for me to get them all the necessary items but now I am relieved,” she told The Press Point.

Elizabeth Akai, a beneficiary with sight challenges, said the help would ease her parents’ burden of buying the necessities.
“I am so grateful for the support I have received today,” she said.
Mr Mwenda Thuranira, who is eyeing the Isiolo North MP’s seat, said the donations were a fulfillment of the promise he earlier made to be supporting some of the top students to join Form One.
He reiterated his commitment to support education through the issuance of bursaries if elected in the forthcoming 2022 general elections.
“The only way to empower our children is by ensuring they access quality education without financial strain,” said Mr Thuranira
