Three secondary school students and a rider Tuesday died after the motorbike they were riding on their way back to school after one week holiday got involved in an accident along Isiolo-Ruiri road.
The three were knocked down by a speeding Matatu at Kwa Koome area after it reportedly lost control.
The vehicle that was coming from Ruiri side swerved before it collided head-on with the motorbike that was moving in the opposite direction.
One of the learners died on the spot while the others and the rider sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Meru General Hospital where they succumbed while undergoing treatment.
The bodies were moved the hospital’s mortuary awaiting postmortem.
Buuri Sub-County Police Commander Mr Joseph Oduor said investigations had been launched to establish the cause of the Tuesday afternoon accident.
