The Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe is set to issue a press conference on Covid-19 containment measures ahead of the festive season even as tension rises over the outbreak of the heavily mutated Omicron Coronavirus variant in some of the neighbouring countries.
The CS is expected to issue the briefing later today following a consultative crisis meeting with members of the National Emergency Response Committee (NERC).
The meeting comes two days after Health PS Susan Mochache hinted that government had no intentions of restricting those coming into the country from countries that have reported cases of the Omicron virus.
The PS said the government had heighted surveillance at the entry points and that no one would be allowed into the country without proof of vaccination.
