An investigative report into the Sh7.8 billion Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (Kemsa) scandal released last week has raised eyebrows following the omission of ex-EACC boss Halakhe Waqo and Jubilee Vice-chairman David Murathe in the list.
Mr Waqo, who allegedly acted as guarantor for Aszure Commercial Services in the Sh347 million KN95 masks tender and Mr Murathe said to have assisted Kilig Ltd get nearly Sh4 billion tender have both denied links to the companies.
Appearing before the National Assembly Parliamentary Investment Committee (PIC), Mr Waqo maintained that he was approached by First Community Bank to help the company get the funding.
The report indicates that Mr Waqo was neither a shareholder nor a director at the Aszure Commercial Services.
The anti-graft agency had earlier recommended prosecution of directors of Kilig Ltd, Gadlab Supplies, Steplabs Technical Services, Wallabis Ventures, Shop n Buy, Meraky Healthcare and Accenture Kenya alongside several Kemsa officials.
MPs will either adopt or reject the report during debate in Parliament next week.
