An Isiolo girl who scored B (minus) in 2020 KCSE examination securing a slot at Strathmore University to study Certified Public Accounting (CPA) course has appealed to good Samaritans to help her join the institution.
The distraught 19-year-old Habiba Guyo, who lost her parents while in class five, said she is worried that her dream could be shattered as her guardian can no longer afford to continue supporting her education.
She said that completing her secondary school education was a miracle because in most instances she missed exams as spent time home severally due to lack of school fees.
“I did not sit for (mock) examinations because I had been sent home over lack of school fees. I am worried this might be the case with my university studies,” she said during an interview with The Press Point.
Ms Guyo, who is expected to report to the institution in November this year, said her only hope had been on the guardians who had been supporting her throughout but withdrew support as they were also funding their child who is a second year University student.
“I am appealing to our local leaders to help me pursue my dreams. My guardians are helpless as of now,” she said amid tears.
Her caregiver, Ms Zeinab Guyo said she had been sustaining her in school through the aid of sponsors who had since withdrawn the support.
“I have been taking care of her since childhood but I am now overwhelmed. I am not able to continue supporting her alongside my children,” the guardian said.
