Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario is set to be sentenced today after he was found guilty of misappropriation of public funds and abuse of office following the Rio 2016 Olympic Games corruption scandal.

The court yesterday maintained that the CS, during his tenure illegally included three persons to the Kenyan team and allowances issued to them led to the loss of public resources.

The CS was also found guilty of engaging in a project without prior planning contrary to the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes act.

The court also found former Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) official Stephen Soi guilty of misuse of office during the Olympic Games that started in 2019.

Others found guilty are Sports PS Richard Ekai, former director of administration at the Ministry of Sports, Patrick Kimathi Nkabu, Haron Komen and Francis Kinyili.
