Chuka Igambang’ombe MP Patrick Munene has faulted the Tharaka Nithi County security and administration team for what he termed as laxity in responding to complaints by Kamwimbi residents which led to cruel killing of Chief Japhet Majau two weeks ago.
The legislator said there was need for government apparatuses to always act swiftly to issues raised by members of the public to prevent damages and even loss of lives.
Mr Munene also expressed need for residents of the area to mend their relations and forge ahead as one united community.
“It is a challenge to the government so that in future, when such issues arise, investigations are immediately commenced to avoid such ugly incidences,” Mr Munene said during the burial of the chief at Kigatuni village.
“Issues of discontentment among the public should be swiftly acted upon,” he added calling for dialogue in solving of their differences.
His office has set aside Sh100, 000 that will facilitate an interdenominational meeting for reconciliation purposes.
Murder
The 59-year-old chief was murdered on April 30 outside his brother’s house where he had been sent by Igambang’ombe deputy county commissioner Fred Masinjila to solve a dispute between the brother and a resident.
The brother Gikware Mukengu had reportedly seized some goats belonging to a resident that had trespassed into his parcel of land rekindling a long lasting row between the administrator’s family and the villagers.
Irate residents descended on him with crude weapons cutting him into pieces before setting him on fire.
