Kamaindi community should not be condemned for the killing of Chief Japhet Majau who was today laid to rest at Kigatuni village, Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has said.
The county boss said only the few involved including those who have already been arraigned in court should be condemned for their hand in the gruesome killing that happened on April 30.
“The crime was committed by a few people and we should therefore not condemn the entire community but those involved,” Mr Njuki said during the sendoff ceremony.
While eulogizing the 59-year-old father of four, Njuki said residents should avoid acting from anger to prevent such ugly occurrences and called for dialogue in solving differences.
“We cannot solve an issue by killing someone but rather calming down and embracing dialogue,” he insisted.
The governor asked residents who had fled their homes after a mammoth of GSU officers were deployed at the area to hunt for suspects to return home promising that no innocent person would be victimized.
Although residents of the area are yet to receive title deeds for their portions of land, he stressed that the two levels of government were tirelessly working to ensure resolve of land disputes through issuance of the documents. ��
