Roots Party Presidential candidate George Wajackoyah has summoned his running mate Justina Wamae over gross misconduct and misrepresentation of the outfit’s ideologies.
The Party has summoned Ms Wamae for disciplinary action for sending congratulatory message to President elect William Ruto and previously claiming that Prof Wajackoyah was supporting Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
“H.E William Ruto and H.E Rigathi Gachagua are going to be President and Deputy President respectively and I pray that people of Kenya will accept the verdict. Congratulations on your victory. As the representative of the Kenyan youth, I will support you in any way I can to achieve a financially stable secure Kenya…” Ms Wamae said in a tweet on August 19.
Through the Party’s Legal Director Washika Wachira, Prof Wajackoyah states that Ms Wamae three days after congratulating Dr Ruto, was quoted in mainstream media saying that he had said that he would proceed to court and that “I told him it was not viable. You cannot leave your gate open and still cry foul that your stuff has been stolen”.
The Party said the politician had continuously and maliciously misrepresented its position and that of the party leader raising concerns over her allegiance to the party’s manifesto.
“Your utterances and unsubstantiated information on mainstream and social media are within your knowledge and against the spirit and stands of Roots Party. You have only been in the party for less than two months and was not bothered to peruse the party’s constitution and communication guidelines,” Prof Wajackoyah stated.
Lawyer Wachira said Ms Wamae was ungrateful to Prof Wajackoyah who assisted her with accommodation and official party vehicle during the campaign trails.
On August 3, Ms Wamae claimed that Prof Wajackoyah had endorsed the candidature of Mr Odinga. “It is true the allegations that my principal and Party leader is supporting Azimio but we have not discussed that as a party, we have not agreed neither have I been consulted”.
Due to the continuous misrepresentation of the Party’s stand, Mr Wachira said, the outfit had suffered public ridicule and disrepute.
“It is in our knowledge that you have continuously disassociated yourself with the party and its ideologies and associated yourself with our opponents,” the Presidential candidate noted.
In a summon letter drafted by the lawyer and addressed to Ms Wamae, the party ordered her to appear at the party’s head office on August 26 (Friday) for disciplinary hearing.
She has been asked to cease speaking on behalf of the Party as “failure to stop the misrepresentation and irresponsible utterances would see legal action instituted against you”.
Ms Wamae has maintained that she will not honour the summons terming the allegations non-existent and imaginary. “I will not respond to pettiness,” she said when reached for a comment.
