Isiolo North MP aspirant Lucy Mworia has hit out at one of his opponents for allegedly engaging in dirty politics and asked residents to be wary of such leaders.
This is after her picture addressing mourners at a burial ceremony in front of a branded vehicle of the politician was shared online with bloggers claiming that she had stepped down in his favour.
In what was seen as jab on her opponent Mwenda Thuranira, Ms Mworia slammed the leader for alleged tendency of posting photos of needy residents on social media saying it contravened their right to privacy.
Mr Thuranira’s bloggers claimed Ms Mworia had dropped her bid after the pictures took rounds online.
“It is unfortunate that they are even sharing photos of people in hospital wards claiming they need help. Even if one needs assistance, sharing their photos is not in any way of helping them,” she said.
She maintained that the challenges bedevilling Isiolo residents could only be solved by politicians who had grown up and were raised in the area and had proven capable of leading the citizens.
“Our people have challenges which cannot be solved by exposing them on social media. We, those born and raised here, know how to solve them silently,” said Ms Mworia.
During an adult pass out ceremony in Kiwanjani, Wabera ward, the peace and education activist said sharing people’s photos on social media could create conflicts in families and necessissate break-ups.
She appealed to the residents to vote for her as their Isiolo North MP during the August polls promising to propel the constituency to the next level.
“I have been with our people during good and bad times. Have I ever taken anyone a photo? Did I expose anyone on social media?” she paused adding, “Some families are on the verge of breaking because of these photographs that some politicians post online”.
“I am a national figure and I can only quit the race to seek a higher position not to support a ‘newcomer’. I have not stepped down for anyone and I have no such plans in the future,” she told The Press Point.
