Businessman-cum-politician Omar Hassan has announced his entry into politics and revealed that he was eyeing for running mate post in the gubernatorial contest.
Mr Hassan said he will work with a like-minded leader but did not reveal the aspirant he is or will likely to support.
The leader said his quest was driven by the community and exuded confidence that the aspirant he gets into agreement with clinches the seat in August polls.
Somali Council of Elders recently given him a nod to approach Governor hopefuls and negotiate on behalf of the community.
“We have given him our blessings to reach out to gubernatorial hopefuls and work with the one he deems best in bettering the lives of our people,” Council’s Chair Shariff Abdullahi said.
Mr Hassan said he will soon announce the hopeful he will work with after ongoing negotiations are completed.

“I am so happy that our leaders have recognised youthful leadership. I commit to tirelessly work for Isiolo people for improved livelihoods and increased development,” he said.
The elders asked him, if successful in his quest, to serve the electorates fairly regardless of their tribal or religious affiliations.
Two politicians, former Governor Godana Doyo and ex-EACC boss Halakhe Waqo has declared interest to unseat Governor Mohammed Kuti.
Sources within Dr Kuti’s camp revealed that Mr Hassan was among those being considered for Deputy Governor post.
“He (Kuti) will not seek a reelection with his estranged deputy. He has the option of Somali or Ameru deputy but former is more likely and Mr Hassan is among the options being looked into,” a source told The Press Point.
Mr Hassan appealed to Isiolo residents to remain united before, during and after elections and shun selfish leaders out to divide them for political expediency.
