Officers from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) have rescued a baby monkey that was adopted by a five-year-old girl following the death of its mother due to the ravaging effects of drought in Garbatulla, Isiolo.
A photo of the nursery school pupil Amina Jillo went viral on social media following her selfless act that elicited accolades from many Kenyans who demanded her recognition for the humane act.
She cried when she was picked from school on Friday morning and informed that her ‘pet’ had to be taken away from her.
The distressed girl claimed that she was in a better position to take care of the infant as they had strongly bonded and revealed that she used to play and even sleep together with the little monkey.
