The family of Isiolo Boys High school top KCSE student with hearing complications has breathed sigh of relief after a private hospital offered to pay Sh500, 000 for his specialized treatment.
Abdulmalik Isack, who scored B plain of 66 points emerging top in the school, partially lost hearing while in class seven and decided not to notify his mother Habiba Adan over fear that she could not finance his treatment.
His condition prompted High School Principal Diba Abdi to reach out to education officials who helped him acquire an assistive device months to last March KCSE exams.
“I had to wait after the lesson to consult my friends because I could not hear the teacher,” Mr Isack said during a past interview at the school.
Specialists at the private hospital in Isiolo that has offered to sponsor his treatment said his condition could be rectified. The hospital will cater for his travel to Nairobi and back plus the treatment cost.
Joyous Isack said the help was timely as his family could not have afforded the treatment as his mother, who is the bread winner of the family, has no reliable source of income.
“I am so grateful for the support and I urge other well wishers to assist people with conditions akin to mine,” Mr Isack said.
