Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a contractor who demanded full payment for work done before opening classes.
Reports indicate that the legislator had on July 30, 2021 gone to officially open classes at Baptist Lurare Primary School in Kamukunywa ward but was shocked on finding that they were locked.
The victim identified as Spehen Masinde demanded that the MP pay him and his colleague their dues but they would hand over the classroom keys to him.
In a video that has since gone viral, the MP is seen slapping the contractor in front of the congregation that had gathered to witness the event.
Mr Masinde reported the matter to Kimilili police station leading to the legislator’s arrest on Monday morning.
