The National Council of Elders Chairperson Phares Rutere has succumbed to Covid-19 related symptoms.

The 80-year-old died on Wednesday morning while receiving treatment at a hospital in Nairobi where he was admitted for the last eight days.

His aide Nicholas Mugambi Mugabe said he had been admitted at Kiirua Mission Hospital before being transferred to Nairobi for specialized treatment.

“He was in and out of Kiirua Mission Hospital for several days before being taken to Nairobi,” he told thepresspoint.com
