Nakuru County residents who exhibit outstanding acts of patriotism will soon be honoured if Governor Lee Kinyanjui assents to a bill recently passed by the County Assembly.

The Kabazi MCA Peter Mbae’s sponsored Honours and Awards Bill seeks to establish a formula for identification, selection and honouring exemplary acts of heroism.

The Bill, whose second reading was done on June 22, 2021, further proposes the enrolment of the elderly into the National Hospital Insurance Fund for easy access to health services.

If assented, it will pave way for the creation of several honours and awards including Governor’s Commendation, Elder of the Order of the Golden Crown, Chief of the Order of the Golden Crown, Moran of the Order of the Golden Crown and Chief of Order of the Burning Sword among others.

A committee will then be constituted to look for potential heroes whose list will be presented to the Governor for the awarding.
