City MCAs have approved Governor Ann Kananu’s nominee for the Deputy Governor’s position offering hope to the county that has gone for years without a Deputy county boss.

Mr Paul Mutungi was nominated by Ms Kananu immediately after she took oath of office as Nairobi’s third governor last week.

The ward reps on Thursday unanimously supported Mr Mutunga’s nomination saying following his long stint at the City Hall, he was the right person to help the Governor propel the county forward.

Mr Mutunga previously served a counselor for Mbotela Ward and City Hall’s Chief of Staff prior to his new appointment.

He has been nominated amid several accusations of land grabbing, corruption and misuse of public resources that he denied before the vetting panel.

The approval paves way for the official swearing in for Mr Mutunga.
