Police in Gilgil, Nakuru County are investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident where a mother reportedly killed her three children before commiting suicide following a domestic tiff.
It is suspected that the 31-year-old Mollen Akinyi poisoned the children aged one, six and 10 years before hanging herself.
Neighbours who alerted the police following a foul smell emanating from the woman’s house at Teachers B Estate.
The bodies of the minors were discovered in the bedroom with foam oozing from their mouths while the mother was found hanging from the roof with a rope tied on the neck when police officers broke into the house.
A suicide note alleging neglect by the husband who is a Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldier currently working in Somalia was recovered from the house.
