Police in Kericho are hunting down a group of three criminals who robbed a lady of her phone and unknown amount of money after pretending to offer public transport services in Kericho town on Sunday night.
The three, in a seven-seater Toyota Wish public service vehicle, tricked the 21-year-old lady into believing that they were passengers headed towards Chepseon.
After covering about a Kilometre, the driver asked for her fare and before she could get it from her purse, one of the men grabbed her by the neck and ordered her to surrender her phone and all the money she had.
The suspects then threw the victim out of the vehicle before she was rescued by passers by who administered first aid on her and reported the incident to a nearby police station.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has appealed to members to the public to volunteer information that could lead to the arrest of the criminals and identification of the vehicle’s registration numbers.
