Police in Nyeri are interrogating a 33-year-old man who reportedly murdered by his elder brother following a disagreement over ownership of a three-seater couch.

Mr Joseph Maina, 36, had gone to his younger brother Elias Muriithi’s house to repossess the couch, following instructions from their mother, when an argument ensued.

Mr Muriithi, armed with a machete, smashed Mr Maina’s head killing him on the spot before presenting himself at Mathari Police Station to escape the wrath of irate locals who were baying for his blood.

Police officers who rushed to the scene found the victim’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood.

The suspect is being held awaiting arraignment over the murder.
