A man from Kibwezi in Makueni County has been arrested for allegedly defiling his daughter and coaching her to frame her schoolmate.

A 38-year-old Matuku Katumo was apprehended on Thursday after he reportedly defiled his 11-year-old daughter while they were headed home from a nearby shop on Sunday evening.

Mr Katumo is said to have restrained her daughter’s hands along a stretch before committing the offense.

The suspect would later advise the class Five pupil to frame a fellow pupil warning her of dire consequences if she revealed what had happened after realizing that she had developed walking difficulties.

On receiving information, Nyumba Kumi officials ordered questioning of the alleged perpetrator but while at Kibwezi Sub-County Hospital, the minor revealed to the medical team what exactly had happened leading to the arrest of the father.

The suspect is set to be arraigned today over the incident.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has advised parents and guardians to be on the lookout following the rising cases of defilement in the area.

The incident brings to five the total number of defilement cases reported in Makueni in the last five days.
