Tension is high in parts of Wajir county following a suspected Al-Shabaab attack that claimed four lives Wednesday morning.

Police reports indicate that a Toyota Land cruiser vehicle that the victims were travelling in ran over an explosive device at Andaki area along Wajir-Gerile road.

A contingent of security officers has since been deployed to beef up security and restore calmness in the area.

The attack comes two days after seven people died and 13 others injured when a matatu they were travelling in ran over an explosive device along Arabia-Mandera highway in Mandera county.
