Three days after Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip was arraigned for allegedly shooting a woman in Nanyuki, the two parties have agreed to settle the matter out of court.
The shooting incident happened at Kanu grounds around 2am October 24 following an altercation between the Senator and Joy Makena.
Mr Loitiptip was on Monday arraigned before Nanyuki court where he was accused of causing grievous harm and unlawful firearm use.
He was released on Sh1 million bond or Sh500, 000 cash bail.
In the agreement letter, Ms Makena said she had reached an out of court settlement and will not further pursue the case.
Whether or not the Director of Public Prosecutions will allow withdrawal of the case that has attracted public attention, only time will tell though the complainant may frustrate the court by failing to testify in event charges are preferred on the Senator.
