A suspect linked to a cache of weapons that was recovered in a Kilimani apartment on Tuesday night has surrendered to police Wednesday.
Mr Ken Wycliff Lugwili is alleged to have for a long time failed to pay his monthly rent prompting his landlord, Ballon Nangamala, to seek a court order that allowed him to break into the premises.
Accompanied by officers from Kilimani Police station, Hebros auctioneers gained entry into the premises and to their surprise recovered an armoury stocked with more than 20 firearms including six pistols and over 500 ammunitions.
Detectives established that the suspect was a licenced firearm dealer whose licence was revoked three years ago.
Mr Lugwili’s lawyer however maintained that his client had received a letter lifting the ban and had hence commenced his business.
The Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) has since taken over the matter for further investigation.
He is set to be arraigned in court later today.
