Isiolo North MP aspirant Lucy Mworia has been appointed to the Azimio la Umoja National Coalition Executive Committee.
The Isiolo’s Devolution Empowerment Party Coordinator will deputize Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua who is the NCEC Treasurer.
A peace and education crusader, Ms Mworia has immensely contributed in peaceful coexistence among local communities in Isiolo through her advocacy work.
The politician first vied for Isiolo Woman Rep seat in 2013 before trying her luck in Isiolo North MP seat in 2017 where she emerged third with 8, 511 votes trailing behind former MP Joseph Samal who got 11, 165 votes and incumbent Hassan Odha who garnered 12, 506 votes.
She is currently a PhD student (Transformational Leadership) at St Paul’s University where she undertook her Masters and Undergraduate degrees in Development Studies and Leadership and Management respectively.
The 58-year-old also has a Degree in Nursing and Diploma in Vocational Nursing from California’s Everest College Ontario and Maric College respectively in United States.
She draws her inspiration from late environmentalist Wangari Mathai and Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua.
“Having been brought up in Isiolo, I know the challenges our people face and will if elected, introduce transformative leadership,” she said in past interview.
The leader said she will if voted in form ward committees to identify neediest cases so that National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) pays bigger part of the fees and support those who do not make it to University join local technical and vocational institutes.
Also appointed to the Azimio committee is National Assembly’s Deputy Majority Whip and Igembe North MP Maoka Maore who will be the Deputy Organising Secretary.
