A Nairobi court has jailed a man who reportedly destroyed his mother’s property over the mode of payment of a boda boda ride.
The Kibera court heard that Mr Ronald Kipkemboi on October 25, 2021 arrived at their home at Camp David in Langáta on a boda boda and demanded that his mother Ms Ruth Jelimo pay the rider.
On insisting that she had no cash, the mother opted to pay through M-Pesa and Mr Kipkemboi started an argument accusing the family of hating him.
He immediately rushed to his mother’s house and destroyed two Television sets, a 28-inch Sony Bravia among other valuables.
Appearing before Kibera Resident Magistrate, the suspect pleaded guilty to causing malicious property damage and was handed a six-month sentence without the option of a fine.
