A 20-year-old man has confessed to killing 13 children in Nairobi and its environs, some of whom went missing days ago, throwing families into panic over increasing kidnapping cases that continue to be reported each day.

Masten Milimu Wanjala was arrested by detectives from Buruburu Police Station on Tuesday over the kidnapping of Junior Mutuku Musyoka, 12, and 13-year-old Charles Opindo at Shauri Moyo between June 30 and July 8 this year.

The suspect, after sharing with police how he kidnapped the two boys before killing them in cold blood, took the officers to the scene where their decomposing bodies had been dumped.

Reports indicate that at least 90 children are reported missing in Nairobi each month with parents now worried that their children could fall prey to criminals who extort money by demanding ransom from parents.

Detectives continue to interrogate the suspect in efforts to gather more information to assist in arresting other criminals involved.

Mr Wanjala further admitted to executing and burying more than 10 other children across Nairobi as detectives seek to find out where the bodies have been buried.

Police recently asked parents to avoid writing their children names on their bags saying criminals were using them to lure school-going children.
