At least three people are nursing gunshot wounds after they were shot by police during anti-Finance Bill 2024 protests in Isiolo town.

Among the victims is a 17-year-old form four student who was allegedly shot in the back.

Two bodaboda riders also sustained wounds on thigh and leg.

Starting as peaceful protests in the morning, the demonstrations turned chaotic after a rowdy group said to have been paid by some politicians to disrupt the demos started lighting tyres on the Isiolo-Moyale highway.

Lobby groups have accused the police of using excessive force against the protesters.
