Education CS Prof George Magoha has ordered closure of all schools effective tomorrow (August 2) to pave way for the August General elections.

The CS said to allow the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission conduct the upcoming polls in a seamless manner, all schools will remain closed until August 10.

He ordered schools to ensure the learners proceed for mid-term break effective Tuesday.

The government had earlier said schools would be closed days to the elections with schools caught unawares by the new announcement.

“Schools and parents are advised to ensure the learners proceed on half-term break effective August 2 and resume on August 11 (next week),” Prof Magoha said, adding that the communication superseded earlier communication on the closure of basic education institutions.
