Some Isiolo MPs have asked the government to speedily resolve boundary dispute between Isiolo and neighbouring Garissa to end banditry attacks that have claimed over 10 lives in past one month.
Senator Fatuma Dullo and Woman Rep Rehema Jaldesa accused the State of laxity in providing lasting solution to the row which has adversely affected key services at the contested areas.
Nine people were last week killed and four seriously injured in a bandit attack at Quri village in Garbatulla in a row pitting two communities living near the Isiolo-Garissa border.
“We are asking the government to move with speed and demarcate the boundary for administrative purposes,” said Ms Jaldesa.
The MPs complained over selective disarmament of National Police Reservists in the county and claimed that their counterparts in Garissa still had the firearms.
Senator Dullo accused Garissa residents of failure to follow past resolutions on resource sharing noting that they were invading Isiolo land without consulting the elders.
They took issues with Garissa Governor Ali Korane recent statement where he said his herders can graze at any part in Isiolo and will consult no one terming it inflammatory.
“We are ready to sit down with Garissa people for lasting peace to be realized between the two communities,” the Senator said.
