Youths in Isiolo have protested the poor state of roads and accused the county government of failure to improve them despite numerous appeals.
The irate residents lit tyres and barricaded the road connecting Isiolo town to Isiolo Law Courts and Lands office paralysing operations on the busy stretch for hours.
Motorists were forced to use alternative routes to access the upper part of the town as the youths engaged police in running battles that lasted for hours.

The youths, mostly from Kiwanjani in Wabera ward, hit out at area MCA Abdi Duba for sleeping on his job and failing to initiate any development for his electorates.
Due to the poor state of the road, the furious locals said were experiencing difficulties in taking the sick to the hospital and that the area had witnessed increased accidents involved bodaboda riders.
“We are tired of begging for our rights and feel betrayed by our MCA and Governor Mohamed Kuti who we voted in wholeheartedly,” said Sime Adan.
“We will not spare them in 2022 because they are selfish and not concerned of our needs” he added.
The residents threatened to stage demonstrations should the county government fail to work on the road.
