Four people died on the spot after a container on a trailer fell on their vehicle at Mwanataibu area in Kwale.
Reports indicate that the trailer overturned and rolled severally before crashing into the other vehicle as the driver was trying to avoid hitting a cow that was crossing the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway and which also died in the 1pm accident.
Area Police boss Fred Ombaka said the casualties were three Belgian tourists and their tour van driver and were all from one family.
The trailer was enroute to Nairobi.
The bodies were moved to Moi Referral Hospital Mortuary in Taita Taveta.
More than 20 people perished last Friday when a matatu they were traveling in hit a trailer on the same highway killing 15 on the spot.
