Five days after Comedian cum politician Jasper Muthomi popularly known as MC Jessy shelved his Meru’s South Imenti MP quest in favour of competitor Mwiti Kathaara, he has quit United Democratic Alliance Party.
Deputy President William Ruto had offered him a job at his presidential campaign team.
“He will join my campaign team after postponing his bid for Mwiti Kathaara,” Dr Ruto said.
But Jessy has declared that he is still in the race and that his change of heart was prompted by the electorates.
He joins a list of among others Embu Senator Njeru Ndwiga, Manyatta MP John Muchiri (Gubernatorial) and Tharaka Nithi Senatorial aspirant Samuel Ragwa who have ditched the party and declared they will vie as independent candidates after losing in the recent nominations.
