A 65-year-old man who had gone to seek services from a witch doctor in Mwingi East Kitui County has died following attacks by angry residents for allegedly attacking the medicine man.
According to residents, Mr Muthui Mwenga had hardly spent 15 minutes at the renowned 80-year-old’s home when a scuffle ensued.
Wails emanating from the home attracted a crowd that rushed to rescue the witch doctor.
On arrival at home the locals found the medicine man writhing in pain with injuries on the head.
The rowdy mob descended on the client with kicks and blows killing him on the spot.
Police have launched investigation to establish the exact cause of the attack.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has appealed to members of public to refrain from taking action into their hands.
