Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi has handed over a motorbike to a MP hopeful to assist him in his campaigns.
The Governor had promised Nicholas Mutethia popularly known as DC a motorbike at Maili Tatu grounds two weeks ago
Mr Mutethia, who is seeking to dethrone Igembe Central MP Cyprian Kubai Iringo in the 2022 general elections, on November 21 together with his supporters requested Governor Murungi to buy for him a motorbike.
“I presented a motorbike to Igembe Central MP aspirant Mr Mutethia, a promise I had made to him,” Governor Murungi shared on Tuesday.
The gesture has attracted mixed reactions with some of the residents lauding the Governor for honouring the promise and assisting the aspirant while others terming it a show-off.
Others felt the county boss should have bought the man a cheap vehicle.
“Thank you Governor for keeping your promise to this young ambitious and upcoming leader,” Titus Matoi Jnr Msafi shared on Facebook.
Mr Davis Mwenda said “…DC can now campaign from every corner of Igembe with ease”.
“You have stoop too low Governor… Did you ever attend Parliament while riding on a motorcycle?” Hillbow Denis posed.
