Isiolo residents have marveled at a striking rainbow-like halo circled around the sun.
The rainbow was visible to most of the residents in Isiolo town due to clear sky and was first spotted around 11:30 AM and lasted for about one hour on Wednesday.
“I have never seen such a thing. I even thought the world is coming to an end,” Dominic Kirimi said.
The phenomenon is known as halo or Kaleidoscope effect and occurs when light interacts with ice crystals in the atmosphere and covers both sun and moon.
It sometimes occurs when Cirrus clouds sorround the sun causing light to reflect in the seven rainbow colours.
Reports indicate that the circular rainbow has a radius of about 22 degrees around the sun.
One should never look directly or point camera at the unobscured sun as it can damage their eyes and the gadget.
