Isiolo Governor Mohammed Kuti has castigated Deputy President William Ruto for offering youths analogue solutions in the digital era through his wheelbarrow narrative.
Dr Kuti said it was unfortunate that the DP, who owns five choppers and thousands of acres of land and claimed to be a hustler, was offering youths with wheelbarrows.
The Governor said the bottom-up economic model being propagated by Dr Ruto was not new and is part of what the county governments were doing.
In reference to the youth innovation centre in Isiolo town for nurturing skills, the county boss said such programs were clear testimony of bottom-up, where youths are empowered to be tech-savvy and equipped with requisite skills for online jobs.
“Technology (digital) is the way to empower and uplift the young people. Where will the wheelbarrow take you in the digital era?” he posed during a youth meeting in Isiolo town.
He appealed to youths to resist the Hustler narrative and take advantage of available government opportunities.
“Do not be misled by people with five choppers and thousands of acres of land,” he said.
Dr Kuti said the county leaders were solidly behind President Uhuru Kenyatta and will follow the direction that he will give them.
