The Chuka University annual thanksgiving ceremony was today overwhelmed by cerebrations following the acquittal of Vice Chancellor Erastus Njoka from the pangs of Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission over fake academic certificates claims.
Speaking during the event at pavilion grounds, Prof Njoka’s lawyer Brian Otieno, attested to receiving EACC’s statement on September 9 confirming the closure of investigations against his client.
“We wish to inform you that the commission has reached a decision to discontinue the said investigation and has no intention of pursuing it any further.” read part of the letter.
Former Tharaka Nithi Governor Samuel Ragwa accused the people behind the accusations for harbouring a sinister agenda against the scholar.
Prof Njoka took the opportunity to defend his post-secondary academic qualifications most of which took place in the People’s Friendship University of Russia.
Upon winning a scholarship offered by the Ministry of Education, he was enrolled to the university where he studied his undergraduate and Master’s degrees.
He further won a scholarship to study Doctorate degree (PhD) in animal production, special zootechnics in the same institution.
The event was attended by hundreds of Tharaka Nithi County residents and students and local politicians.
