Police in Murang’a have launched investigations into the murder of a nonagenarian by his wife who he was married to for 52 years and sired six children.
Armed with a machete, Margaret Wanjiru, 65, is said to have first cut Ndung’u Mugachia’s ear before slitting his throat killing him on the spot at Ndururumo village in Kandara.
Residents say the couple’s marriage was stuck in conflicts over land and alleged extramarital affairs which saw them live together for about 14 years.
Police reports indicate that the duo clashed after Mr Mugachia tried to defend his daughter in law who the wife was arguing with for offering him breakfast.
The suspect is detained as investigations continue before her arraignment over the murder.
