A woman suspected to be among a group of thieves who stole 21 chicken from a poultry farm in Siaya County has been lynched by irate members of the public.

The 35-year-old Eunice Akoth, together with others who police are pursuing, is said to have broken the door to the house where the chicken was kept.

She was caught by angry residents who beat her mercilessly before setting her body on fire after she refused to disclose her accomplices.

The remains of her body that was burnt beyond recognition were moved to Bondo Sub-County hospital.

Bar-Kowino Sub-location Assistant Chief Mr Edwin Olima appealed to the locals to desist taking the law into their hands but report theft cases that are reportedly on the rise in the area for legal action.
