August 26, 2021 will remain a sweet memory to friends, relatives and everyone who knew Abduba Boru Waqo, a businessman in Isiolo town who vanished eight months ago under mysterious circumstances.
Mr Boru went missing on December 25 last year, minutes after he had left his workplace for his Kulamawe home at 7:30 pm.
According to his firstborn son, Amos Waqo, their father, on the material evening, excused himself as was tired and left him with other employees to close their butchery and that was the last time they saw him.
On arriving home, they were shocked that their father had not arrived at their Kulamawe home prompting an instant search mission.
“His phone was off and we were worried that maybe he was abducted by criminals and killed,” Mr Waqo recalled.
The family would visit several government offices hoping that someone would shed some light on the whereabouts of their father but no help seemed to come through.
“We were almost losing hope as nothing was coming through but remained hopeful that he would come back safely,” the trader’s son told The Press Point at their home.
On Thursday morning, the family’s prayer came true after Mr Boru showed up at his home around 7AM making family and neighbors break into celebrations.
The 60-year-old father of 10 was reportedly dropped by his kidnappers at Maili Saba area at midnight and walked to his home.
Friends and relatives convened at his home in thanksgiving for the man who looked somewhat feeble.
The family declined to have journalists interview him and promised to make arrangements later.
