The Tharaka Nithi ‘matchbox’ size toilet that caused uproar on social media last week is currently under renovation in bid to salvage the county government’s image.
A Monday visit by The Press Point in Magumoni ward, Chuka Igambang’ombe constituency established that craftsmen had already demolished part of the embarrassing toilet and were expanding it.
The toilet sparked mixed reactions online after renowned bloggers photo-shopped it with a picture of Governor Muthomi Njuki’s glorious entry into the event in a Land Cruiser Prado.
However, The Press Point can confirm that the photo was taken during Njuki’s 2017 election campaigns launch at Kairuni stadium, Maara constituency.
Bloggers successfully painted a picture of how the Governor organized a mega celebration to launch the small toilet reported on social media to have costed Sh2.5 million.
What cannot be rubbished is the fact that the toilet was such a disgrace and caused the county leadership a lot of embarrassment especially with the inscriptions ‘Funded by Tharaka Nithi Government FY 2018/2019’.
