Police in Igembe, Meru County are holding a man who reportedly killed his son who he suspected of stealing a mobile phone.
The 27-year-old Evans Mutwiri, reports indicate, was hinted by a neighbor that his 7-year-old had taken his phone which resulted in him physically assaulting the son.
The victim’s mother who had since separated from the husband said she was informed by neighbours that her son had been seriously assaulted and taken to Nyambene Sub-County hospital for treatment.
He later succumbed to the injuries at Meru Referral Hospital where he was later transferred to while in a critical state.
Investigations have since been launched as the suspect awaits arraignment.
