The Meru National Polytechnic has been closed indefinitely following student riots over alleged election irregularities.
The students took to the streets on Monday, blocking roads and lighting tyres halting activities in the neighbouring Makutano market.
Through a memo, the institution’s Chief Principal Eng. Stephen Rukaria ordered all the students outside the polytechnic within a period of 30 minutes.
“This is to inform you that the institution has been closed until further notice and all trainees have 30 minutes to vacate,” read part of the memo dated July 19, 2021.
