Treasury CS Ukur Yattani has been dealt a big blow after the High Court dismissed his request to have Isiolo Woman Representative Rehema Jaldesa stopped from uttering any negative statements about him.

The CS had moved to court seeking a temporary injunction barring Ms Jaldesa from linking him to the intercommunity fights in Marsabit and Isiolo counties meant to allegedly displace the Borana community.

Ms Jaldesa in her defense said she had the responsibility to address all issues affecting electorates who elected her and denied the allegations of linking the CS to the attacks.

Justice Hellen Ongúndi said the CS failed to specify the statements he wanted the MP barred from making, saying defamatory remarks that Mr Yattani had cited in his application were so general.

The matter is active in court.
